Specialist property adviser, Christie & Co, is delighted to announce the sale of Whitstone Village Stores & Café in Devon.
Whitstone Village Stores is located in the tourist honeypot region of North Cornwall between the coastal town of Bude and the widely known market town of Holsworthy. The business has been awarded a certificate of excellence by TripAdvisor and comprises a convenience store, Post Office and café/lounge with bar.
The store has traded in its current location for more than 100 years and has been owned and run by Daniel Cock for the last 14 years, he decided to sell in order to pursue other business interests. The business has been purchased by a regional corporate, their third acquisition so far in 2020 through Christie & Co.
Daniel Cock commented, “Together with the help of many others including friends, family, suppliers and customers I have developed a thriving, well supported, local business offering a wide range of goods and services, but felt that the time was right to move on to new ventures. I am delighted that the store will be taken on by experienced operators and I wish them all the best with their future plans. The sale was managed professionally by Jamie Williams at Christie & Co whom I extend my thanks to in concluding a deal that worked for all parties.”
The new owners plan to renovate and rebrand the store, introduce a variety of product ranges, promotions and larger hot food offering to help increase gross profit margins. Currently closing at 9pm, the store offers scope to increase trade through longer opening hours.
Jamie Williams, Business Agent at Christie & Co, is handling the sale and comments, “The business was sold to a top regional corporate who are currently working on a refit and rebrand. The village will soon be served by a high-quality retail offering in the form of a SPAR store. Whitstone Village Stores is the third store purchased by this client in the South West this year. The market is continuing to remain strong, following a successful 2019.”
