Property, construction and infrastructure consultancy Perfect Circle has appointed a newly focused framework development director in a bid to further drive the business forward.
In his new role, Nigel McCarthy – who brings 30 years’ experience in establishing and growing businesses, managing partnerships, strategic marketing, and supply chain procurement – will be refocusing Perfect Circle’s strategy for framework growth, strengthening client and supplier engagement, and leading on regional business development resources and activities.
Perfect Circle was formed in 2016 to deliver Scape Group’s four-year £350 million National Built Environment Consultancy Services (BECS) framework. It is the most efficient route to market, allowing direct award for commissioning services with full public procurement compliance. To date, Perfect Circle has delivered more than 1,000 projects.
Nigel said: “I’m delighted to have joined Perfect Circle at such a pivotal and exciting time in its evolution. The consultancy is taking a renewed focus on successful strategies and forming strong development plans to drive an outcome-based framework that delivers excellence and value to our public sector clients. I’m excited to be a part of this continued strengthening as Perfect Circle progresses into a sustainable organisation with its own brand identity.
“As well as having access to an extensive supply chain of SMEs, Perfect Circle partners with industry-leading and award-winning practices across the UK. This drew me to the role as I thrive on engaging with a wide group of individuals and encouraging them to work collaboratively to drive a business forward and ensure its success.
“My priority going forward is to get on the road and meet with the regional leads to understand the opportunities and hurdles that exist for them. We can then work as a collective to ensure Perfect Circle stands out in the marketplace and delivers a truly first-class experience to its clients and, subsequently, makes a difference and provides social value to communities through the built environment.”
Nigel brings experience of both the corporate and SME sectors. He had senior roles at Swan Hill Group, Rok plc and Kier Group and, through his consultancy Orion360, established in 2014, he has advised a number of SME businesses on growth and business improvement, acting as a consultant, non-executive and chairman.
In 1998, he set up and, subsequently floated on AIM, Stonemartin plc in partnership with the Institute of Directors, MEPC and ISG plc.
Through Orion360, Nigel has experience of both the public and private sector advising on the implementation of management systems, supply chain management and procurement – including the procurement of Cardiff Council’s new construction and statutory maintenance framework contracts.
Managing director Victoria Brambini said: “This is a significant appointment for Perfect Circle and really highlights our commitment to supporting clients throughout the entire lifecycle of their projects through innovative solutions and new ways of working. It has been an incredibly exciting few years for the consultancy and Nigel joins us as a time when we’re continuing to improve the leadership and management of the BECS framework.
“Nigel brings a wealth of experience from within the built environment and wider industries, and has a strong capability in engaging multiple stakeholders to drive success and deliver objectives. His expertise will really help to propel Perfect Circle as we forge ahead through the framework term.”
Mark Robinson, Scape Group chief executive, added: “We welcome Nigel to the Scape Group delivery partner family. He brings a wealth of experience that will certainly be of benefit to our clients.”
