An award winning Midlands law firm has been shortlisted to receive a prestigious industry accolade at the 2012 Law Society Excellence Awards.
Brethertons LLP, which has offices in Banbury, Rugby and London, has been named as a finalist in the Excellence in Learning & Development category at the awards, which take place on 18 October at Billingsgate in London. The awards recognise exceptional individuals and teams from firms across the legal sector, with categories including the Lloyds TSB Commercial sponsored Lexcel Award for Excellence in Practice Management, the Excellence in Innovation Award and the coveted title of Solicitor of the Year.
This year also saw the launch of a new category, Excellence in Conveyancing Practice. Brethertons have already celebrated award success in 2012. The firm was named as Gold winners for the East Midlands, in the Regional Conveyancying Firm of the Year category at the Law Firm Service Awards. Additionally, partner and head of the firm’s family department, Linda Jones, was named Best Woman Solicitor, Managing a Small Practice, at the Association of Women Solicitors Awards. Nadiya Virani-Bland, an associate and head of the firm’s wills, trust and probate department, was highly commended in the category Woman Solicitor, Managing a Probate Practice at the same awards.

Each award entry has its own dedicated judging panel, with specialist experts overseeing this year’s awards including; Lucy Scott-Moncrieff, president of the Law Society, Frances Gibb, legal editor at The Times and Chris Marston, head of professional practices at Lloyds TSB Commercial.
