Lendlease has announced the latest new operators to join Elephant Park, the £2.3 billion regeneration project being delivered by Lendlease and Southwark Council.
Bobo Social, formally located in Fitzrovia, are re-opening their doors this month on Elephant Park’s Sayer Street, within a 1,740 sq. ft. space designed by IDL interiors and Founder Michael Benson. At Bobo sustainable and seasonal ingredients from the very best suppliers take centre stage, all reflected in their easy to eat menu which includes a trio of burgers, selection of small plates, and responsibly sourced meat and fish.
Italian street food traders, Sugo, are set open their first bricks and mortar venue at Elephant Park later this year within a 360 sq. ft. space on Sayer Street. Breaking down the traditional ‘pizza, pasta’ Italian food stereotype, Sugo will offer innovative and healthy food commonly found on the streets of Rome and Palermo. Their Elephant Park site is set to be crowd funded by a Kickstarter campaign, with ambitions held by the brand to expand into a larger chain.
Tasty Jerk, the Caribbean take-away operators and former Artworks Elephant tenant, have opened to the public with a 600 sq. ft. eatery on Sayer Street. Founded by husband and wife duo, Rayon and Linda Johnson, Tasty Jerk delivers classic Caribbean dishes inspired by Rayon’s grandmother and utilises locally sourced ingredients.
Authentic Pan Asian cuisine operator, Pot & Rice, deliver modern Asian cuisine within their recently opened 1,030 sq. ft space at 13 Sayer Street. The fusion restaurant promises an experience packed with flavour, with dishes ranging from their eponymous rice pot selections to Cheung Fun rice pastries, plus fruit and milk teas.
Guy Thomas, Head of Retail at Lendlease, commented on the latest openings and signings, saying: “The recent openings and announcements for Bobo Social, Sugo, Tasty Jerk and Pot & Rice add to the offer for the local community and highlight our commitment to building a sustainable and balanced offer of independent operators within Elephant Park. Our leasing plan has been designed to help emerging brands benefit from the affordable and accessible retail opportunities available.”
Michael Benson, Founder of Bobo Social, said: “Elephant Park is an exciting new destination, and the clear drive to mix locally-based and internationally-recognised brands perfectly suits our offer. We are very excited to be opening our doors here, and look forward to seeing our seasonal and sustainable menu, along with our expertly designed cocktails, launch amongst this emerging Elephant and Castle community.”
Matteo Grasso, Founder of Sugo, added: “Here at Sugo we are dedicated to tearing down traditional Italian cuisine stereotypes and showing London what the streets of Italy have to offer. Our food trucks have become very popular across the capital and we are delighted to open our very first bricks and mortar site within this exciting regeneration project, and alongside many other established and emerging brands. Finding a location that reflects our innovative approach whilst maintaining a sense of community was key, and we look forward to our fast-casual restaurant being a delicious, unique and bustling experience for all.”
These food and beverage announcements follow the recent Sayer Street signings of former Elephant and Castle shopping centre tenants and Ecuadorian cuisine experts Miko’s, along with Lebanese restaurateurs, Bayroot; both of whom are set to open their doors in Spring 2020.
