Poundstretcher has continued its UK-wide growth plan, securing a prime retail unit in Hinckley town centre.
The discount chain has signed a 10-year lease on the former Dunelm store in Castle Street, aiming to refit the shop and launch it to shoppers in the next few weeks.
Retail property specialists at Harris Lamb have been providing support to the chain as it rolls out its national expansion plans.
David Walton, Head of Retail, said: “We are delighted to have secured such a fantastic outlet for Poundstretcher. It is a well-appointed, good-sized store, with a 4,500 sq ft sales area and a further 4,500 sq ft for storage, making it an idea site for the business.
“The latest store, which will open under the chain’s trading fascia Bargain Buys, occupies a prominent position in a popular shopping area enjoying high levels of footfall, with neighbouring retailers including B&M Stores, Carphone Warehouse and WH Smith, all of which should combine to ensure the chain’s continuing success.”
Gerry Loughran, Property Director for Poundstretcher, said: “We have enjoyed a very positive reaction to our Bargain Buys stores thus far, and we’re delighted with the latest location we have managed to secure.
“Our store-opening pipeline is strong – This is our second Hinckley store – and work will shortly be underway at the site to refit it. This is an ideal trading position for us, and we look forward to opening our doors in due course.”
