Whitefriars, one of Bristol’s landmark office buildings, is fully now let following a £1.5 million refurbishment. The last two available office suites have been let to Edgecumbe Consulting Group Ltd and IMD Group Limited.
Edgecumbe Consulting, a leading UK-based psychology practice, is expanding their operations and moving into a 1,492 sq ft suite from the Whitefriars Business Centre, and management and business consultants, IMD Group Limited, is moving into the last remaining office suite of 3,103 sq ft.
Whitefriars, which totals 140,000 sq. ft., is located in the heart of the City and Hartnell Taylor Cook, working as joint agents with JLL and Burston Cook have let over 30,000 sq ft in the building since the completion of the refurbishment. The works included a new modern reception, new lifts throughout the building and an overhaul of the building’s own café. Whitefriars uniquely provides its tenants with a number of extra services as well as the café, including a gym, large meeting rooms to rent and a break-out space.
Steve Pope, group director of property and asset management at Topland, said: “Having completed the refurbishment of Whitefriars, we are delighted to have the property fully let with such a diversity of quality businesses. The Edgecumbe letting is particularly pleasing as they had moved from the Whitefriars Business Centre into a larger conventional suite and is one of 3 occupier’s we have grown from our own Business Centre.”
Lizzie Boswell of letting agents Hartnell Taylor Cook commented: “Whitefriars has successfully managed to reinvent itself to cater for the needs of the modern office occupier and for a significant office building of this nature to be fully let reflects the quality of the space, the tightening of the Bristol office market, with falling supply of affordable space and a landlord who understands and reacts to the market.”
Steve Pope adds, “With 100% occupation at Whitefriars, we are now very excited to have acquired 33 Colston Avenue, close by, where we intend to bring a new contemporary approach to this stunning Art Deco property, alongside our own hands on, driven approach.No:33 will be comprehensively refurbished to include a redesigned and reconfigured reception and arrival experience, an exciting refurbishment of the penthouse suite, new lifts and improved staff facilities. We expect this will have a real impact in the Grade A provision and build on the successful recent lettings in Colston Avenue at Eagle and St Stephen’s Houses.”
