Derbyshire based construction company Wildgoose Construction has promoted Andrew Tilford as the new managing director of its construction business, from his role as Commercial Director, with the full backing of the company’s board and shareholders.
Andrew started his career at Wimpey Construction as a quantity surveyor, graduating from Nottingham Trent University in 1994. Andrew joined Morgan Sindall in 2001 and spent 12 years with the company, becoming commercial director for their North East construction business before joining Interserve Support Services in 2012 as commercial director, Infrastructure and Industrial.
Andrew spent six years at Interserve before leaving to join Skanska as commercial director for their £300m Infrastructure Services business, delivering high profile Highway Maintenance and Infrastructure development contracts across the south of the UK. Andrew joined Wildgoose as commercial director in October 2018 to move back into general contracting and to be closer to home.
Executive Chairman Jonathan Wildgoose said: “I am delighted with this appointment. In the short time that Andrew has been with us, he has already made significant improvements to our delivery capabilities, systems and approach which are already helping us to develop and further improve our offering. This appointment is the clear next step in our journey and has the full backing of all colleagues and shareholders”.
Andrew said: “I am very pleased to be given this opportunity. The company has a strong reputation and my challenge is to build and strengthen that further. Wildgoose have an excellent portfolio of work with good long-term client relationships, an established supply chain and talented teams. I look forward to playing an active leadership role in the business’s next phase of development and evolution.”
The announcement about Andrew’s appointment was made at a team briefing and Mr Wildgoose went on to outline how the company, based in Alfreton, was moving forward.
He highlighted a number of projects set to start under the Wildgoose Homes arm of the company and said there were more in the pipeline.
Mr Wildgoose talked about Wildgoose Construction’s many achievements and the amount of repeat business being secured, which was a testament to the exceptional work being done on sites across the country.
He said: “The basis of success is our people and our processes and we have seen the old guard continue to set the gold standard and some bright new faces adding to the energy and capability.
“We have moved forward in so many ways. The jobs are much bigger, tidier, safer, better organised, better managed, better commercially controlled, better in every way. It is quite some achievement and, guess what, we have to keep going.”
