Businesses that respond to changing customer needs, embrace technological change and are fundamentally good at what they do will always do well. This is the message to companies operating in the BDO Central South region, stretching from Weymouth to Chichester and north to Salisbury and Andover.
BDO is pleased to announce the latest top performing companies in the Central South across the its key sectors of manufacturing, technology, consumer, services, healthcare and real estate and construction. These are the mid-market companies that are still successfully growing their businesses despite the challenges of Brexit and economic uncertainty.
The annual analysis of business activity and performance in the mid-market (£10-300M turnover) is now in its fifth year. A number of companies listed are showing sustained growth, appearing for a second or even third year running. But there are also new names joining the top performers in sectors such as healthcare. Despite the uncertainty, in the last three years the mid-market in the region has still achieved 25% growth in turnover.
David I’Anson, BDO partner said, “Our Central South region showed resilience through the economic downturn post 2008 and, although we won’t know for sure until this year’s figures are available, it seems that despite the recent period of unprecedented political and global upheaval, many local companies are still delivering real, tangible success.
Tax partner, Steve Hoon, added, “We are delighted to once again recognise the region’s top performers. However, there is more uncertainty ahead as the country seeks to negotiate its trade deals with the EU and further afield. While some sectors could be more directly impacted than others, the overall strength of the UK economy affects us all and currently business confidence indicators are mixed in their outlook.”
BDO will present each company with a special plaque to celebrate its achievements, and they will be shortlisted along with other top performers this year for the BDO Central South Mid Market Company of the Year, to be announced in autumn 2020.
