Employees are being urged to tackle the challenge of competing in a friendly corporate touch rugby tournament.
Firms across Coventry and Warwickshire are being encouraged to enter teams in the first annual Touch Rugby League Challenge which will take place at the Xcel Leisure Centre in Coventry on Sunday, September 30 between 11am and 1pm.
The event has been organised by the Rugby Football League and Coventry Sports Foundation with support from CSW Sport and Coventry Bears Rugby League Club.
Ashley Howlett, from the Rugby Football League, said: “This is a great opportunity for friends and colleagues to get together and have some fun outside of the workplace.
“Touch Rugby League is a non contact sport and can be played by both men and women.
“We are looking forward to introducing some new faces to the game and raising money for charity in the process.”
The tournament will operate in a five-a-side format with teams encouraged to have squads of up to eight players including both sexes.
Tracy Murphy from CSW Sport said: “This will be a really good fun day which will teach the basics of touch rugby in the hope that those taking part play again and possibly take a deeper interest in the sport.
“It an opportunity for colleagues to relax together in a more informal setting and it is also a really good all-round sport for fitness and fun.”
Free taster sessions to help teams familiarise themselves with the sport will be held by fully qualified RFL staff at the Xcel Leisure Centre on Wednesday, September 26. Entry will cost just £20 per team and proceeds from the event will be donated to the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
