A business golf day and auction, organised by independent insurance brokers Jelf, has raised over £3,500 for charity.
Twenty teams of four played in the tournament at Glamorganshire Golf Club, whilst simultaneously raising money for charity.
The golf day was in aid of the CATS (cure and action for Tay-Sachs) Foundation, a charity which Jelf has been involved with since staff member, Brad Watson’s son, Archie, was diagnosed with the condition aged 21 months.
The event’s organiser, Nick Grimmitt, Jelf’s Development Director Wales, said: “This is the first time we have held the golf day but given its success I’m sure it will become an annual event. The CATS Foundation is obviously an important charity for the Jelf team and I’m really pleased that we have been able to raise such a significant amount of money for them.
“I’m very grateful to all the companies that contributed to the golf day and the auction. A special thank you must go to Glamorgan Golf Club, Bevan Charles, Tremorfa, Procopy, Cardiff Glass and Royal Bank of Scotland.”
Tay-Sachs is a disease which affects the nervous system and means children with the condition have a life expectancy of around four years. The CATS Foundation is dedicated to providing treatment and support for families and Archie is the only child in Wales with the disease.
