Mays Properties Ltd, advised by Curson Sowerby Partners, has started work on the major refurbishment of Fairacres Retail Park in Abingdon.
Contracts have exchanged with Lidl for a new 18,500 sq ft supermarket and the construction of Phase 2, which also incorporates four new retail units of 49,060 sq ft plus mezzanine, are underway. New stores from 7,642 sq ft will be ready for occupation by Christmas 2020.
Demolition of the former Vineys, AHF and Topps Tiles units has started on site with the works expected to be completed within 12 months.
This latest phase at one of South Oxford and Abingdon’s leading retail parks, follows earlier redevelopment work which involved the creation of a new retail unit and recladding works across the Park.
Fairacres Retail Park comprises 128,745 sq ft and provides 492 car parking spaces. The scheme is located off the A34, 10 miles south of central Oxford. Existing tenants include Carpetright, Dreams, Argos, B&M, Subway and Pets at Home.
