National law firm Mills & Reeve has advised on the creation of a new £16 million university technical college in Birmingham.
Aston University Engineering Academy is the first university led and sponsored engineering academy to be created for 14 – 19 year olds in England. It offers science A-levels, engineering diplomas and apprenticeships, and has capacity for 600 students.
Mills & Reeve advised on the creation and incorporation of the university technical college and on all the property elements of the project, including the development agreement and long lease.
Stuart Pemble, Birmingham-based head of Mills & Reeve’s academies team, said: “This project builds on our existing relationship with Aston University and once again involved the expertise of our dedicated academies and university technical colleges team. We have now completed in excess of 120 such deals, including more than 25 conversions to academy in the last month alone.”
