Birmingham construction law expert Heidi Brennan has joined Lodders as Construction Partner in its Real Estate practice, to drive the firm’s growth in the city.
The former Director of Construction Services at Birmingham firm Emms Gilmore Liberson, where she led the firm’s Construction and Engineering Division, Heidi brings more than 14 years’ experience advising clients on all major forms of construction, engineering and demolition contracts.
Prior to Emms Gilmore Liberson, Heidi, who lives in Moseley, was with Shoosmiths in Birmingham for 12 years, in the construction and engineering team where she was integral to its growth and expansion.
Lodders’ Real Estate practice is one of the largest in the West Midlands with 30 specialist real estate, commercial property, planning, construction and highways legal experts, including nine partners.
Head of the team, Mark Miller, says Heidi’s knowledge of and reputation in the Birmingham and West Midlands construction sector perfectly fit the team’s work, client base and expansion plans:
“Heidi’s appointment is a significant step in the team’s ambitious plans for continued growth, especially in Birmingham, where she is very well known and has a strong reputation for her knowledge and tenacity, and where the firm already operates at a high level and has worked with Heidi for mutual clients. She will be focused on advising commercial, industrial and residential developers, property investors and owner occupiers, and her impressive pedigree and client base will be invaluable.
“Heidi has significant experience of advising developers, funders, contractors and sub-contractors, and of working with organisations in the retail, automotive care home and leisure sectors. This and her construction law and sector expertise mean she is the perfect fit for the Real Estate team and clients, specifically non-contentious work, with complementary and aligned knowledge and networks.”
On joining Lodders, Heidi says: “I am delighted to be joining such an established and well respected firm, with an impressive client base. There are some real synergies with our clients and the way we work, and I feel confident that growing the construction and engineering offering here will be a great success.”
Paul Mourton, Lodders’ managing partner and real estate lawyer adds: “Our Real Estate practice offers a partner-led, proactive service tailored to the particular requirements of each transaction, and focused on providing commercial solutions with speed and efficiency. Heidi and her construction law expertise represent a significant addition to this team, while her client service and thorough, committed approach perfectly complements the ethos of the team and the firm as a whole.
“Lodders continues to attract best in breed legal specialists and Heidi is the latest in a number of senior additions to the firm this year. The firm continues to grow not only staff numbers, but also turnover and fees, year-on-year, supported by our pedigree and established reputation that reinforce the firm’s position as a premiere, independent law firm in the Midlands and the South West.”
