Knight Frank has taken first place on Radius Data Exchange’s Sheffield office agency ranking as the most active agent in the city.
The national agency, based at Fountain Precinct, was the only agent to break the 100,000 sq ft barrier in the 12 months from August 2018 to August 2019 and disposed of almost 125,000 sq ft of space in the city during the year, 26 per cent higher than its nearest competitor.
The city’s performance saw 222,628 sq ft of space transacted, more than half through Knight Frank’s team, which completed 17 out of 56 deals – an overall 3.7 per cent rise on the previous year. The average deal size was 3,976 sq ft.
Peter Whiteley, head of the Sheffield office and partner at Knight Frank, said: “We have had a strong year in Sheffield and Knight Frank’s largest letting for 2018/19 was 17,000 sq ft at 1 Northbank to Social Work England.
“We also acted jointly with Cushman & Wakefield on the largest occupational sale of 21,000 sq ft of space at Hallamshire Business Park off Ecclesall Road to education publisher, Twinkl.”
The availability of quality stock in Sheffield continues to fall, with the 80,000 sq ft Acero building at the Digital Campus the latest project to reach full occupancy and out of town, ARBA Group’s Meadowhall Business Park also nearing full occupancy with just 7,500 out of 70,000 sq ft remaining.
Peter added: “Work is hopefully due to start on the forthcoming 62,000 sq ft Vidrio building at Digital Campus next year.
“Pennine Five, the former HSBC offices in the city core, will help deliver up to 250,000 sq ft of much needed supply. This will be a superb opportunity and Knight Frank is delighted to be acting for the new owners.”
