DM Hall, one of Scotland’s leading firms of Chartered Surveyors, has once again increased its already unrivalled depth of expertise with the appointment of a highly respected and hugely experienced quantity surveyor.
It has secured the services as Senior Surveyor in its Dunfermline office of Brian Kinnell, 55, until recently a director of local private surveying practice Wilkinson & Lowe. He joined the firm on August 1.
Brian, who was born and raised in the “Auld Grey Town” and spent most of his professional career there, will have the responsibility of expanding DM Hall’s nationwide insurance validation and quantity surveying capability.
He said: “I was attracted by the opportunities offered by DM Hall’s national network of offices. The scale of the firm and its strong support infrastructure means that I can operate on a completely different level.”
Brian has a distinguished career in QS, having joined CR Douglas & Co as an Apprentice in 1982, remaining until 1996 and becoming an Associate. After a spell with Faithful and Gould in Edinburgh, he joined Wilkinson & Lowe in 1998, becoming an Associate in 1999, a Partner in 2000 and a Director on the firm’s incorporation in 2012.
He said: “I will be reporting to Partner Alasdair Seaton in Dunfermline and will have the responsibility of effectively establishing a new QS department within the firm, with the ultimate aim of bringing on future talent to ensure sustainability.
“At the moment, I carry out insurance validation work across a large part of Scotland and this is something I will continue to expand, backed by the resources of DM Hall. I will also be focussing on bringing in substantial new QS work into the business and introducing new skills.”
Alasdair Seaton said: “Brian has established a very well-deserved reputation both locally and nationally for his skills, professionalism and integrity. He has been very prominent in the local area and his experience will be an invaluable asset to DM Hall.
“His presence will allow the firm to rapidly expand its QS and insurance validation offering, thereby increasing the range of services that we can offer our clients up and down the country.”
DM Hall has a network of 26 offices across Scotland employing more than 230 people. It is a trusted advisor to solicitors, estate agents and financial institutions as well as the general public.
