The new owners of a Solihull Garden Centre have secured permission to extend the centre as part of its growth plans; a move that is expected to create up to 80 new jobs.
Rosebourne bought the former Wyevale site on Kenilworth Road near Hampton-on-Arden at the end of 2018 and Neville Prest, Managing Director for the business, worked with Worcester-based garden centre planning and design specialists Malcolm Scott Consultants to put forward proposals to extend the site.
Chris Primett, of MSC, said that the plans to extend the centre’s retail area by 13,260sq ft had been approved by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
“Rosebourne’s latest centre is located in the West Midlands Green Belt, so in preparing our plans, we had to be sure that the proposals were appropriate to the surrounding area.
“By its very nature, the garden centre is in-keeping with the countryside setting, and we are delighted that the council has approved these plans, which will enable Neville and his team to give a new lease of life to the site,” he said.
