45 Church Street, one of Birmingham’s landmark office buildings, has attracted multinational insurer, QBE Insurance.
The deal was completed by the Birmingham office of DTZ, a UGL company and joint agent, GBR Phoenix Beard on behalf of Standard Life Investments.
QBE has taken 6,500 sq ft of grade A space on part of the fifth floor of 45 Church Street on a 10 year lease. The firm was previously based at office premises on Edmund Street in the city centre but required additional space as part of its regional expansion plans.
Located on in a highly prominent position in Birmingham’s central business district, 45 Church Street comprises 124,000 sq ft of office space. The scheme is already home to a number of high profile occupiers including private bank Brown Shipley, Coutts and the Business Growth Fund (BGF).
Matthew Long of DTZ commented: “Once again, 45 Church Street has attracted a high profile international occupier. Along with the floorplate flexibility, the development of Church Street Square, which has pedestrianised of part of Church Street, has further enhanced the building’s appeal as a high quality business location.”
QBE Insurance is the official insurance partner of England Rugby and Premiership rugby. Its Birmingham office covers the West and East Midlands and employs approximately 35 people.
Tim Clarke, Regional Manager Midlands & South West at QBE in Birmingham said: “Our expansion to 45 Church Street demonstrates our commitment to the city and the Midlands region as a whole. As a prestigious building in the heart of the central business district, it was a natural fit for our business.”
