The new owners of The Square in Cheswick Village in North Bristol have secured their first new occupier since acquiring the mixed use neighbourhood scheme late last year.
London-based The Ironmongers’ Company acquired the investment of the multi-let scheme in December 2018 from the developers Balfour Beatty. The centre was developed in early 2015 to provide a community focus for the 1,000 home Cheswick Village and the wider developments. The Square is already home to Boston Tea Party, The Cooperative Food, Happy Days Nursery, Barnardo’s and a number of takeaway restaurants.
Letting agents Alder King have now let Unit 8 to local personal training and fitness studio JMPT Ltd. This will be JMPT’s second studio in the region – they already run the highly successful Crossfit Chew Valley in the Old Cattle Market in Winford. JMPT agreed a 10 year lease and secured change of use consent on the 4,056 sq ft ground floor unit.
This letting leaves just two vacant units of 1,208 sq ft and 1,444 sq ft, both of which are available to rent through Alder King. The remaining units have planning consent for A1-A5 use.
Rebecca Harries from Alder King’s retail agency team said: “The addition of a good quality fitness studio to The Square will be an excellent addition to the line-up, helping to drive footfall and support the existing businesses.
“The new owners are focused on attracting a diverse and complementary tenant mix to serve the day to day needs of local residents. The scheme is now 90% occupied and we have encouraging interest in the remaining two units.”
Carter Jonas also recently completed a letting on The Square on behalf of Southern Co-op. Bessellscotts Barber Lounge & Wine Bar have taken a sub-lease on circa 1,500 sq ft. They are currently fitting out and plan to open their combined barber shop and bar later this year.
