A plastics manufacturing firm has bought a plot of industrial land in Droitwich as part of its ongoing expansion plans.
Chess Plastics, which specialises in plastic injection moulding and is located on the Berry Hill Industrial Estate, beat competition from a number of other parties to secure the 1.5 acre-site on George Baylis Road after it was placed on the market by agents at Harris Lamb and GJS Dillon.
Sara Garratt of Harris Lamb said: “This was an ideal opportunity for Chess to expand its existing operation, which is located immediately behind the site on the adjacent business park.
“We were instructed to sell the land, which comprises of a 16,000 sq ft industrial unit set in 1.5 acres of industrial land, with a guide price of £850,000. The land was in high demand from potential buyers due to the opportunity for redevelopment it represented by way of its excellent rail and motorway links, strong reputation with established business occupiers and the area’s ongoing popularity from retail warehouse and supermarket occupiers.
“With Homebase, Aldi, DFS, B&M and Pets At Home already being established close to the site, and with a new Lidl supermarket on the adjacent site, there was significant interest from a number of parties keen to redevelop the land, but Chess Plastics recognised the opportunity to further develop its operations and secured the site for above the asking price,” she added.
Founded in Tring in 1968, Chess Plastics moved to Droitwich in 1990, and makes plastic parts for the automotive, brewing and construction sectors, including Jaguar Land Rover, Thermos and Scania.
