Avison Young continues to grow its Property Management Consultancy team with two new appointments.
Helen Palgrave and James MacMullen have joined the company’s Midlands office, which operates out of a headquarters at one of their most prestigious managed estates – Brindleyplace in Birmingham city centre.
Helen has extensive experience of the property sector, with a career spanning over 15 years in senior positions in private practice in Birmingham.
Her role at Avison Young will see her take a leading role in one of the company’s largest instructions for a national industrial portfolio and is joining the team that delivers wide ranging services for the Brindleyplace estate.
James started his career with the British Rail Property Board, before moving in to private practice, providing advice primarily on retail and corporate properties.
As part of the Avison Young team, he will deliver property management services for a range of clients, acting on large technology parks, shopping centres and retail parks across the Midlands and Wales.
Guy Thompson, Avison Young, said: “I have worked with both Helen and James in previous roles and am more than confident in their capabilities and the expertise that they’ll bring to our clients’ properties. Their growth of the team at this level is partly in response to the buoyant regional real estate market, with Foreign Direct Investment into the West Midlands and Birmingham remaining consistently high despite the uncertain environment caused by Brexit.
“Our region’s strong talent pool, lower operational costs and modern infrastructure have played a significant role in attracting foreign investors. It is also to support the dynamic nature of instructions where for example We Work’s commitment to open a large office on Brindleyplace is another vote of confidence in the city.
“They expect to be fully occupied by the time they open the doors in a few months’ time which means additional work through our estate management capacity at Brindleyplace. Furthermore we have been instructed on two substantial off market purchases of large multi-let schemes which we will be announcing shortly.”
The West Midlands is due to receive significant benefit from the £778 million investment ahead of Birmingham hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2022, which will bring additional opportunities to the region.
Guy Thompson added: “The Commonwealth Games will entice tourism, cultural events, jobs and new business to the region and will undoubtedly help to kick-start regeneration and infrastructure schemes in Birmingham and around the wider region. Avison Young is well placed to capitalise on resulting opportunities with our strengthened team.”
