A brand-new 100-bed Premier Inn is now complete at the £150 million Bridgwater Gateway development – and set to open this week.
Around 30 jobs will be created at the new hotel, which opens on Tuesday 9th July.
The Premier Inn is situated in a prime location fronting the main road within the 100-acre mixed-use Bridgwater Gateway scheme near junction 24 of the M5 in Somerset.
Numerous suppliers from the local area have been involved in the construction project. These include main contractors Carter Lauren, plus several local sub-contractor companies including Hopkins Concrete, Roberts Skips, Somerset Carpenters and RJD Bricklaying, all based in Bridgwater, and Premier Fencing, based in nearby Cheddar.
Phil Wade, Development Manager for Bridgwater Gateway, said: “This is another major milestone for us. The business park has delivered a major boost to the local economy during the construction phase, as well as leaving a legacy of creating new jobs into the future.”
Bridgwater Gateway is the latest business park development on the M5 corridor. The first phase will feature a range of new office and commercial buildings, alongside a new 150-bed, four-star hotel with conference facilities, in addition to the Premier Inn.
Tim Davies, head of the South West and Wales at global real estate advisor Colliers International, said: “The opening of the new Premier Inn hotel will help to meet the huge demand for rooms in and around Bridgwater driven by the construction of Hinkley Point C power station and the proximity of Bristol Airport.”
Premier Inn, part of the Whitbread chain, is the UK’s biggest hotel brand and is consistently rated the UK’s Best Value Hotel Chain by YouGov. It has more than 750 hotels with 70,000 rooms across the UK and Ireland, offering king-sized beds, ensuite bathrooms, and TVs with Freeview and Wi-Fi.
