Acting on behalf of the Ardstone Regional Office Fund (AROF), CBRE and Avison Young Office Agency teams in Manchester have recently secured two new lettings at Ship Canal House on King Street, to OakNorth and Hall Brown Solicitors.
OakNorth, a fintech company focused on helping small and medium sized growth business secure the debt finance they need to pursue their ambitions, has committed to a new 10 year lease on the 6th floor of the building. OakNorth is one of the fastest growing businesses in Europe and this year closed a £324 million funding round led by oftBank’s Vision Fund. The round took the business to a $2.8bn valuation making it Europe’s most valuable private fintech group.
This new letting comes soon after Hall Brown Solicitors, an existing tenant and highly respected family law firm, took additional space in the building as their operation continues to grow.
Michael Cecil, Head of Asset Management for Ardstone, commented;
“We are delighted that Oaknorth and Hall Brown Solicitors have committed to Ship Canal House. They are two hugely exciting businesses that have seen rapid growth over the last couple of years and we are excited to be part of their future. It is testament to the character and location of the building that it is the home of such a cross section of recognised companies across the service sector.”
Mark Garner, Senior Surveyor for the Office Agency team at CBRE Manchester, commented;
“The recent lettings at Ship Canal House clearly reflect the building’s appeal to some of the fastest growing and most exciting companies in the region. The building provides Grade A office space set against a backdrop of historical architecture and original features, combining character with practicality, which is proving an attractive proposition to occupiers”.
Ship Canal House, the original HQ of the Manchester Ship Canal Company, is a Grade II Listed building comprising 72,500 sq ft of prime office accommodation spread across 9 floors. The historic building provides refurbished, modern, Grade A space while retaining its character and many of the original features.
Following these two lettings there are now only two vacant suites of 2,530 & 3,960 sq ft available in the building.
AROF is a programmatic venture that is exclusive to clients of CBRE Global Investment Partners (CBRE GIP).
