Global flooring company, Interface, is investing in the UK market and opening a new base in the heart of Birmingham, a city with a rich history in manufacturing.
Situated on the 10th floor of The Colmore Building in the centre of the city’s main business district, the new space brings together the company’s talented people from across the region and provides a centralised location to offer the best possible service and experience for its customers.
Interface is a long-standing champion of biophilic design, due to the benefits it brings to both productivity and well-being. Birmingham’s status as the UK’s first Biophilic City, part of a global network, makes it the perfect centre for the company’s UK operations, which will be known as The Greenhouse.
The space brings to life Interface’s commitment to creating beautifully designed workplaces which foster collaboration and creativity, whilst positively impacting the people using them. In the case of The Greenhouse, this means Interface’s team, as well as customers, architects and designers from across the region who are invited to share this co-working space.
Interface’s new UK headquarters are true to the principles of its Climate Take Back mission, the manufacturer’s pledge to reversing climate change. The flooring showcased across the space, from carpet tile to Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and nora® rubber flooring, is 100% carbon neutral. There is also a key focus on the well-being of those using the office, with a strong biophilic design influence which is proven to positively benefit people both mentally and physically. With no parking available on site, employees and visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport to travel to The Greenhouse.
Lee Mellor, Vice President & General Manager, Interface said: “This is an exciting time for our growth in the UK and we have so much to show and share with our customers. We thought long and hard about the location of our new offices and we could not be more pleased with our decision.
“Our investment in Birmingham not only makes business sense, but more importantly, we have created a positive space that will inspire not only our team but also customers, architects and designers from across the region who we’d love to come and share the space with us.
“Whether it’s calling in for a coffee and taking in the 360° views of Birmingham’s historic sites, or spending the day working from our offices we’re excited to open the doors to this unique co-working space. We strongly believe that people will find The Greenhouse an invigorating and inspiring place to visit and work.”
