The Cardiff office of Brewin Dolphin has become a sponsor of the regional rugby team, the Cardiff Blues, as part of the company’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
The investment management firm has signed up to support the side for the 2012/2013 season, which will see the Blues return to Cardiff Arms Park following three seasons at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The new agreement adds to the Cardiff office’s other sponsorships in this milestone year, including headline sponsorship of the Abergavenny Food Festival in September and corporate sponsorship of the Wales Millennium Centre, demonstrating a commitment to supporting Wales-based organisations.
Steve Skelding, Divisional Director at Brewin Dolphin in Cardiff said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 250th anniversary. We believe that the key to our success lies in the fact that our approach to our clients is the same as it always has been: we work on the basis of long and established relationships where we really get to know our clients, and we take very seriously the responsibility of managing their wealth.
“We are pleased to be marking this anniversary with our new sponsorship of the Cardiff Blues and a renewed sponsorship of the Abergavenny Food Festival and Wales Millennium Centre. The 2012/2013 season is gearing up to be an exciting one for the Blues and we’re delighted to be involved. We have an established history of supporting the arts and sport throughout the company and it’s always great to be able to put something back into Wales.”
Chief Executive of the Cardiff Blues, Richard Holland, said “This is a big year for Brewin Dolphin who is celebrating its 250th anniversary and we wish them the best of luck with their celebrations.
“It shows the ambition of the Cardiff Blues that we have managed to secure the support of a company with such a proud history in the financial sector and we look forward to forming a close working relationship with them over the forthcoming season.”
There are a number of other ways that the Cardiff office of Brewin Dolphin will celebrate this landmark year for the firm, including an event at Craft in the Bay, a 250th anniversary book which tells the story of the company and a staff day in support of Wales’s largest cancer charity Tenovus at Chepstow Racecourse.
Brewin Dolphin’s origins can be traced back to 1762 when the stockbroking firm John Dawes (one of the founders of the London Stock Exchange) was established. Since then they have had several name changes and have gone on to become one of the country’s largest independent investment management companies, managing over £25 billion of client funds across 41 offices.
The Cardiff office of Brewin Dolphin is headed up by David Myrddin-Evans. Following growth in recent years, the office moved to new headquarters at 5 Callaghan Square at the end of last year and together with the Swansea office now manages over £680m.
