Businesses and residents from across Hampshire came together to show their support for the Alex Lewis Trust at a Spanish-themed event at Hotel du Vin in Winchester recently.
The event, organised by Friends of the Alex Lewis Trust, was held to launch ‘Alex Talks’ a new programme of motivational speaking hosted by Alex Lewis. The event was sponsored by Paris Smith LLP, NFU Mutual Winchester Agency, Smith and Williamson and 21Six and also served to raise the profile of the Trust so that it can continue to help people with Strep A.
Positivity and collaboration was at the heart of the event which was compered by BBC South presenter Laura Trant and had 60 people in attendance, as guests learned more about the Trust and its work from a series of inspirational speakers.
Speaking at the event, Liz Trevor, director of strategic partnerships at Paris Smith LLP, said: “It is so important to Paris Smith to be involved in the community. We’re passionate about collaboration, and working with people who have a real positivity about life and who want to help others facing life challenges.”
Rosemary Court, who helps manage the Trust said: “The event created the perfect platform for Alex to showcase his talks, his aim is to inspire people to see life differently, take every opportunity that comes their way and live life to the fullest.”
This event has helped raise more than £5,000 for the Alex Lewis Trust. This money will be used for rehabilitation costs, including wheelchairs, home adjustments and prosthetics.
Alex Lewis contracted Strep A in November 2013 which led to quadruple amputation and facial reconstruction. The Trust was set up to help fund Alex’s rehabilitation costs to enable Alex to lead as normal a life as possible.
There will be a second event in aid of the Trust later this year.
