Tunstall Smith King Consulting Engineers (TSK) has revealed a new company HQ in the heart of Nottingham’s creative quarter at 29 Stoney Street.
Formed in 2016 by directors Garry Tunstall, Peter Smith and Stephen King, TSK is a niche practice of 14 professionals providing solutions for all aspects of structural and civil engineering design with a hands-on approach to clients.
The move to the new open-plan, ground floor space in the historic Lace Market area of Nottingham from its previous location in Beeston, is part of the company’s growth strategy to accommodate its growing workforce and to unlock new opportunities in the city centre.
Secured by Nottingham-based commercial property agent FHP, the 1,334 sq. ft office is within a former lace mill – designed by renowned local Victorian architect, Watson Fothergill – and boasts lots of natural light, exposed brickwork and beams and original cast iron columns.
TSK’s portfolio is UK-wide and includes hotels, private housing, student accommodation, industrial and food retail developments. Locally, the team is currently working on a number of high-profile projects including the ‘The Waterside’ scheme at Trent Bridge, a landmark student accommodation development adjacent to Sneinton Market, the residential scheme at Trivett Square in the heart of the Lace Market, the regeneration of Beeston town centre and a state of the art YMCA Sports and Community Village in Newark. Collectively, TSK is working on schemes with a construction value in excess of £90m within Nottinghamshire.
Director Stephen King, said: “Myself and the team are excited to be in our new office which looks fantastic but also meet the needs of a growing firm. It has always been our intention to be based in Nottingham city centre as part of our growth plans and we’ve have had our sights set on the creative quarter as the area perfectly suits the business.
“The central location enables us to be closer to a number of our clients and projects and will help to attract further talent to the business. We are a proactive team providing innovative engineering design solutions and we are also sociable and see the benefit of networking events, of which there is an abundance in the city centre.
“As directors, we have a combined experience of more than 60 years, and a strong presence in the residential, commercial, industrial and education sectors. As a team we are growing organically, and the new office can accommodate up to 20 employees which is where we aim to be in the next few years as we continue to employ talented professionals.
“The new office gives us the additional space that we need to work, and we also encourage our team to take a break where possible. The office pool table certainly helps with this, as well as encouraging a bit of healthy competition.”
Thomas Szymkiw, surveyor at FHP, said: “I was pleased to assist the team at TSK with their search for a new office. After viewing several options in the Lace Market, I was pleased that 29 Stoney Street was the one that ticked all of the boxes for them. It’s an impressive space and I wish them all the best there.”
