National logistics developer, db symmetry has gained outline planning permission for a major new logistics scheme at Symmetry Park, Kettering. Tritax Big Box REIT is funding the development.
Planning has been granted for up to 2.31million sq ft of high-quality logistics floorspace, which has the potential to create up to 2,800 jobs and will be a major contributor towards Kettering’s planned economic growth.
The scheme will also deliver the first phase of the Isham by Pass which will see the dualling of the A509 from Junction 9 of the A14 to the site entrance. Located directly alongside the A14 “Trans-European” freight route, Symmetry Park Kettering extends to a total of 136 acres.
Speaking about the decision, Jonathan Wallis development director at db symmetry, commented: “We are extremely pleased with the decision – this is one of the few sites in the East Midlands that can accommodate a single unit in excess of one million sq ft. Our focus is now on getting on site to start delivering buildings. Work has already started on a planning application for the associated infrastructure and first phase of development and we will continue to engage with the local community as our proposals progress.”
