Following their £26m investment in the speculative development of 2 large warehouse buildings at Albion Land’s Link 9 development in Bicester, RDI REIT P.L.C. are seeing significant demand from a number of occupiers for the accommodation with unit 1a now ready for occupation. RDI is an established UK REIT invested in a diversified portfolio in the United Kingdom and Germany independently valued at £1.6bn.
Link 9, with over 500,000 sq ft of new distribution and production buildings, has already seen new buildings purchased by British Bakels (80,000 sq ft), Teknos (80,000 sq ft) Oxford Safety and Barings LLC (120,000 sq ft). Unit 1a is the first of two new state of the art industrial/warehouse buildings, both self-contained and comprises 120,225 sq ft. Development of the further 168,000 building has begun and is expected that the Link 9 development will provide over 1,000 new jobs for the region.
Sarah Jones, Senior Asset Manager, RDI REIT, said: “We are delighted to have completed the first of the two buildings which comprise high quality distribution units/industrial assets in Bicester and we are already seeing a good level of interest for both premises influenced by Bicester’s excellent location along the London-Birmingham M40 motorway.”
Chris White, Managing Director, White Commercial Surveyors, comments “The site’s location in Bicester at junction 9 of the M40 is situated in a fast and expanding economy between Oxford, London and Birmingham.
Bicester, being famous for Bicester Village which has over 6,000,000 visitors each year, is experiencing substantial growth with a further 10,000 houses planned up until 2030, and has already seen significant improvement in its transport infrastructure – an ideal location, situated close to Oxford for distribution businesses situated in the centre of England.”
