Assembly Bristol, the 300,000 sq ft office led, mixed-use regeneration project in the heart of the city, has been awarded a Platinum Wired Certification rating. The accreditation has been awarded to Building A, which represents the initial phase of the project which will complete in 2020.
Wired Certification is a commercial real estate rating scheme delivered by WiredScore, which empowers landlords to understand, improve and promote their building’s digital infrastructure.
Building A, represents 200,000 sq ft of office and retail space over 11 storeys, making up approximately two thirds of the Assembly Bristol project, which is an investment and a development of AXA IM – Real Assets, on behalf of clients, with Bell Hammer as development manager. The regeneration scheme is creating up to 300,000 sq ft of retail and office space, as well as an extensive public realm comprising a new waterfront public space and a floating harbour walkway.
As well as obtaining Platinum certification, Building A places a specific emphasis on sustainability and occupier wellness. It is also targeting BREEAM Excellent and WELL enabled accreditations. The building has been designed by AHMM and is creating a new standard for Bristol office space, including diversity of its workspace with a range of flexible office space, supporting global and local occupiers.
The site, which is located adjacent to Temple Way, has been vacant since 2008 when the former Clerical Medical HQ was demolished.
William Newton, President and EMEA MD, said: “Bristol is a flourishing market attracting a wide range of occupiers from the tech, financial, media and consultancy sectors. The city’s buildings must be able to support the dynamic style of working created by attracting such a variety of customers. This means that the digital infrastructure of a building is becoming increasingly important, especially as occupiers become more tech enabled.
“Building A is supporting employee wellbeing and productivity by creating a tech enabled and sustainable building environment. We are proud to be a part of that journey on such a landmark scheme for the area.”
Wired Certification acts as a trusted benchmark for a building’s connectivity, giving greater transparency to tenants. The certification also provides landlords and developers with the necessary insights to upgrade and future-proof their buildings’ connectivity standards.
Following the global success of the company there is now over 500 million sq ft of office space committed to Wired Certification. WiredScore now works with more than 500 forward-thinking landlords and developers globally including: Blackrock, British Land and Hines. More than 1,800 buildings are committed to certification and five million people work in Wired Certified buildings across North America and Europe.
