Microbiological services specialist MGS Laboratories is to move from Gosport to new premises at Portsmouth’s £10m Merlin Park development.
The company is the third business to take space at the development at Airport Service Road since its completion last year.
MGS Laboratories Ltd, which provides microbiological outsourcing services to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, will take the 9,299 sq ft Unit 2, following in the footsteps of Belgrade Insulation and Scott Cables which are already signed up as occupiers.
Guy Jackson, Industrial Director at LSH’s South Coast offices, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome MGS Laboratories to this exciting new development in Portsmouth. This part of the city is home to a number of high-profile companies – the desirable location teamed with the quality of the units at Merlin Park ensures that demand remains strong.
“These units benefit from features that are very much in demand in the region – their size and height, in particular, makes them attractive to a range of businesses that require modern, spacious, flexible accommodation.”
Kim Morwood, Managing Direcotor at MGS said: “A unit that provides this much space in such an accessible location is a rare find in Portsmouth and is an exciting move for MGS – we look forward to moving in to new premises which support our growth and our plans for the future.”
Regenerated by Canmoor Developments, 6.5-acre Merlin Park features some 100,000 sq ft of new employment space in seven units for business, industrial and warehouse uses, and will also be the home of Hampshire Constabulary’s new Eastern Police Investigation Centre.
Guy Leslie, Asset Manager at Canmoor Developments, said: “Merlin Park is the city’s largest speculative industrial development in a decade and brings a large brownfield site back into commercial use. The development brings more much needed industrial space to the city further regenerating the area and has brought an unused site back to life.”
The seven units at Merlin Park, in an area that is home to businesses including BAE Systems, Booker, ScrewFix, ATS, Veolia and The Range, range in size from 8,000 to 20,000 sq ft. Units 4,5 and 6 are available which could provide space for a single occupier over 40,000 sq ft. The site has excellent transport links, with the M27, M3, A3 and Portsmouth Ferry Port in close proximity.
