Building services company J Tomlinson has begun construction of a new neighbourhood local centre for LSP Developments.
The £1 million contract, won by tender, includes the design and construction of 6,500 sq. ft. of lettable new build, single-storey retail unit shells at Stewartby, Bedford.
It also features associated external works, including the formation of new car parking and landscaping at the site, which is in the middle of a housing development and on land east and west of Broadmead Road.
The scheme will be anchored by a Midcounties Co-operative store.
J Tomlinson construction director Pete Woods, who heads the company’s commercial refurbishment division, said: “J Tomlinson has wide experience of both new-build and refurbishment projects in all sectors, including the retail sector, and we are very pleased to have been appointed by LSP Developments to build the firm’s latest local centre scheme.”
Nottingham-based J Tomlinson, which also has key offices in Canwell in the West Midlands and Wakefield in Yorkshire, offers a range of integrated building services which include construction, mechanical and electrical services (M&E), facilities management, refurbishment, repairs and maintenance and regeneration.
Other members of the Stewartby project team include architects West Hart Partnership and consultant 360 Project Management.
Work is expected to be completed in August.
