Swansea Bay Business Club will Welcome Lee Waters AM, Deputy Minister for Economy and Transport, as guest speaker at its upcoming networking lunch, on Friday 10 May, at Margam Orangery, Port Talbot.
The Assembly Member – a vocal cheerleader for economic resilience in Wales – will be the afternoon guest speaker, joining club members and their guests for a two-course lunch, to talk about the Welsh Government’s focus upon Wales’ economic regions, and how close working with locally-owned and managed firms can make communities stronger and more resilient.
Acting President of Swansea Bay Business Club, Alan Brayley, says: “Returning to Port Talbot after holding our last event in Swansea, demonstrates our on-going commitment to hosting events across the Swansea Bay City Region and we are expecting to see another strong crowd of new and familiar faces joining us for the afternoon. We are looking forward to welcoming Lee to Margam and gaining an insight into his ambitions for our local economies here in Wales.”
Lee grew up in the Amman Valley, as the son of a miner, and his political career has seen him take on the role of Labour AM for Llanelli, to being appointed the current Deputy Minister for Economy and Transport. He is a former journalist and a one-time Director of the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
He has long been committed to helping to ensure that the Welsh economy is built upon firm foundations and that deprived Welsh communities are not left behind as our economy grows.
Alan adds: “I’m interested too, to hear how Lee’s upbringing and his media career has informed his political life. I know our members have a positive outlook on business life in South West Wales and I am sure they will draw further encouragement and affirmation from Lee.
“As the business club continues to enjoy its 70th year celebration we are keen to build upon a strong start to 2019 and, happily, we are close to reaching our target of attracting 70 new members throughout this year – we are, in fact, just four new members away from achieving this. So we hope to see some new faces and new club members at this event.”
Tickets to Swansea Bay Business Club’s may lunch, which has been sponsored by Lloyds Bank, are available for £25 for members and £32.50 for non-members. This includes a two-course lunch. Bookings will close at midnight on Friday 3 May, one week before the event.
