Construction of an impressive new drive-thru development featuring three major food retailers in Bedfordshire has reached practical completion.
Midlands-based construction contractor MCS Group was instructed by Bedfordia Property to deliver the development of new McDonald’s and Starbucks drive-thrus, and a Domino’s takeaway, at Elms Parc, Godlington Way, Bedford.
The 1.25-acre site, on a main route into Bedford, was a former car showroom and petrol filling station. Bedfordia Property responded to strong occupier demand from the food retail sector to achieve planning consent for the scheme, which was pre-let to the three major chains. They are expected to start trading early this year (2019) once fit-out is completed.
Alan Shadbolt, group commercial director at Warwickshire-based MCS Group, said: “We’ve got a very strong track record in delivering retail projects for developers right across the country. This is an attractive development in a very convenient location and we are delighted to have been involved.
“Our work involved a large groundworks package and, for the first time, we provided a pattern imprinted concrete drive instead of using traditional block paving. We completed the Starbucks and Dominos, and provided the infrastructure and substructure for McDonald’s to place their prefabricated restaurant. We wish the food retailers and Bedfordia great success at the site.”
Bedfordia Property is a privately-owned property, development and asset management company recognised and respected for its responsible and ethical approach to business. It manages a substantial commercial and rural estate for a well-established group of clients associated with parent company, Bedfordia Group.
Other retail and leisure developments recently completed by MCS Group include a Java Lounge Coffee House at Blythe Valley Business Park in Solihull, a Costa Coffee drive-thru for Calthorpe Estates at Edgbaston, Birmingham, and a six-screen cinema and retail complex at Corby, incorporating Nando’s, Spur and Prezzo restaurants.
