Astarte Capital Partners LLP has announced the establishment of a £400m investment platform with a focus on transforming prime infill and edge-of-prime real estate into institutional-quality “future core” assets, predominantly across Greater London.
This new platform will initially create a closed-end structure of £400 million, deployed across 8-10 investment opportunities in the hospitality, entertainment, healthcare and education sectors that have the potential to be developed and/or re-positioned as core real estate assets. Astarte Special Opportunities Platform (ASOP), the firm’s discretionary co-investment vehicle, is leading the investment in the new platform and providing the model for its structure.
Through ASOP, Astarte invests in real assets by forming partnerships with specialist asset operators, providing seed capital for portfolio acquisition alongside third party investors and supplying working capital for the organisation and operation of the partnerships.
The new platform will combine the expertise and impressive track record of an exceptional private real estate partnership led by industry veterans from private equity, asset management and development who share a similar investment philosophy with the innovative approach of Astarte Capital Partners.
Astarte Capital looks for real asset opportunities driven by megatrends such as demographics, smart cities and sustainability.
Astarte’s Investment Committee includes Chairman Jan Straatman, former global CIO of Lombard Odier and ING Investment Management and Philippe Costeletos, former Head of TPG Capital in Europe and Chairman International of Colony Capital.
Teresa Farmaki, Co-Founder and Partner of Astarte Capital Partners said: “We strongly believe that this is the right time for institutional capital to be looking at London. Our new platform will give global investors the opportunity to invest in edge of prime, off-market, real estate in London, one of the most attractive markets in the world.”
Dr. Stavros Siokos, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Astarte Capital Partners said: “This is the maiden investment of our award-winning ASOP platform which is structured to enable investors to access more than $2bn worth of value-add opportunities in the real assets space.”
