Leading national property consultancy, Commercial Property Partners LLP (CPP), has advised on the sale of the Grange Mill Lane site, located beside Junction 34 on the M1, near to Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
The well-known locale, made famous by the ‘Christmas Cranes’, a festive beacon on the South Yorkshire skyline for M1 travellers every December, has been sold to Selenium Developments Limited: a joint venture partnership between Thorngrove Land & Property Limited and Seddon Developments Limited, established to invest in key logistic sites along the UK motorway networks.
Lee Charnley, Director at Selenium Developments Ltd, comments; “This opportunity at Grange Mill Lane is a key acquisition for Selenium on what is undoubtedly a significant site along the M1 corridor.”
The 10 acre site, which sold to Selenium Development earlier this year, is currently leased to HTC Wolffkran, responsible for exporting cranes the length and breadth of the country.
Charnley continues: “One of the main attractions in acquiring this investment was the lease with HTC Wolffkran, allowing ample time to consider all future options for the site.”

More recently the Grange Mill Lane site played host to the filming of cult-classic Dr Who, seeing the first female Dr, Yorkshire-born actress Jodie Whitaker perform her own ‘death-defying’ leap 60 ft up between the two iconic cranes at the popular landmark.
