Construction contractor MCS Group has announced the development of a 50,000 sq ft warehouse/distribution unit in Milton Keynes has reached practical completion.
MCS Group has delivered the Optima 50 unit on time and on budget at Garamonde Drive, Wymbush, on behalf of Coal Pensions Properties. Warwickshire-based MCS Group also completed Optima 20, a 20,000 sq ft unit, at the same site.
Both units were pre-let. Sysmex UK, distributors and support network for Sysmex automated haematology and coagulation diagnostic analysers, reagents and information systems for laboratories and healthcare facilities, has taken occupation of Optima 20.
DRS Data Services, which has developed its expertise to include the design and manufacture of imaging and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) scanners, as well as software solutions for the examination and assessment markets, isexpected to move into Optima 50 shortly.
Tim Perkins, group construction director at MCS Group, said: “This has been a great project and we’re delighted to be able to hand both units over to Coal Pensions Properties ready for their new occupiers to move in.”
He added: “We believe there is a major opportunity for us to establish ourselves as one of the leading main contractors in the sector and in 2019 we expect to deliver more than 1.5 million sq ft.”
Optima 50 benefits from immediate access to the A5 via the Abbey Hill interchange. The industrial estate is around one mile west of central Milton Keynes with junction 14 of the M1 motorway just 4.5 miles to the east.
The unit, built to BREEAM Excellent specification, has around 5,000 sq ft of office space, four dock level loading doors, two level access loading doors, ample car parking, secure service yard with lorry parking, and a ground floor reception with lift. Other nearby occupiers include Brioche Pasquier, Thyssenkrupp and VW Group.
MCS Group is currently constructing several warehouse units at sites across the UK. The company has built and refurbished more than 300 car dealerships including Audi, BMW, Mclaren and Jaguar Land Rover since its inception in 2003.
