The Fattal Hotel Group has announced that it has signed a lease agreement to open a new hotel in Bristol. The 85,575 sq. ft. site will be part of the prestigious Glassfields development situated on Temple Way, at the gateway to the city’s Temple Quarter business district. The hotel will be managed by Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, and will mark the group’s first hotel presence in Bristol, which, once complete, will create an estimated 50 jobs.
Launched alongside a new mixed-use urban development – Glassfields – the hotel will include sleek new office space and shopping outlets aimed at creating a cosmopolitan hub for both business and leisure travellers in one of Bristol’s highest profile locations.
Featuring 200 rooms, the new hotel will host modern and comfortable bedrooms, each boasting flat screen TVs, tea and coffee refreshment docks, stylish décor and ensuite bathrooms. Rooms will be custom designed for ultimate comfort and relaxation. The hotel itself will include a stylish restaurant and bar, meeting facilities and a 24/7 staffed reception.
As one of the UK’s most significant hotel acquirers over last year – and following continued expansion across the European portfolio – the Fattal Hotel Group is positioned as one of the fastest growing hotel groups in the UK, Europe and Israel.
The brand portfolio consists of: Leonardo Hotels, Leonardo Royal Hotels and NYX Hotels by Leonardo Hotels, along with Jurys Inn (UK & Ireland) and Apollo Hotels (The Netherlands) hotel portfolio. In the UK and Ireland the group currently have 53 hotels with several others in the pipeline.
In early December, the group announced the acquisition of a prominent site on Adair Street, Manchester, marking its second deal in the city following its recent flagship acquisition of the iconic Midland Hotel. The group also recently announced the acquisition of the Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton, and well as the leases for four Grange Hotels, marking the group’s first entry into the Central London market.
In August, it revealed plans to invest £32m in the redevelopment and expansion of the existing Jurys Inn Edinburgh hotel and its neighbouring site. The investment includes proposed plans to extend the existing Jurys Inn by more than 100 rooms, convert an adjacent listed building into a new 131-room property by NYX Hotels by Leonardo Hotels, and the development of 31 new residential units on the 1.2 acre Jeffrey Street site.
Known for its superb city-centre locations, event rooms, conference facilities, bar and restaurants and high quality service offering to guests, the new hotel will be within minutes of Bristol Temple Meads Station and the thriving centre of Bristol, boasting fantastic transport links and access to local attractions. Guests can also enjoy the tranquillity of being in a secluded, traffic-free zone.
Commenting on the agreement, Jason Carruthers, Managing Director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, said: “This is a truly exciting time as we expand our offering in the UK with this key site in a major city like Bristol. Our group of hotels are well-known for their great facilities and excellent customer service, which as individual brands and collectively, continue to perform very strongly.
“2018 was another year of substantial growth for Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, and we have ambitious plans to continue this in 2019 across the group as we offer an exceptional experience, in fantastic city centre locations across the UK.
“We continue to look to grow and strengthen the Leonardo brand and hotel network and will pursue further appropriate and commercially attractive new potential development and acquisition opportunities as they arise.”
The site at Glassfields is being leased from Royal London, the largest mutual life, pensions and investment company in the UK and Ireland. AWW has been appointed to design the building, which construction began on in early 2019.
