Hollywood Bowl, Britain’s biggest tenpin bowling company, has opened one of its largest centres to date at the £72 million extension to shopping and leisure destination intu Lakeside.
The 24-lane venue has six VIP lanes, an American-style diner, bar and state-of-the art amusement area, and is the first of four major attractions to launch at intu Lakeside’s leisure-led expansion before the start of the summer.
Openings for Puttshack, Flip Out, family entertainment centre Nickelodeon Adventure and a number of restaurants brands will follow this year. Thriving food hall business Market Halls has also selected the new site for the location for its first out-of-town concept, The Hall.
Laurence Keen, CFO of Hollywood Bowl Group, said “intu is focused on bringing together the very best leisure and retail experiences and this is driving footfall and creating compelling environments where operators like us can thrive. Our latest centre is one of the largest developments in our estate and we are confident that it will flourish at intu Lakeside’s new, leisure-led expansion.”
The rest of intu Lakeside is being transformed with a £10 million makeover to create new entrances and lighting and overhaul mall space linking to the 175,000 sq. ft. development.
Rebecca Ryman, regional managing director at intu, said: “We’re very excited to welcome such a state-of-the-art Hollywood Bowl venue to intu Lakeside and we know it will flourish here.
“intu Lakeside has always been one of the country’s most popular shopping centres and the wave of leisure brands opening will transform its customer experience, drawing in people from across the UK and creating new opportunities for the brands operating here.”
