Salmon Harvester Properties (SHP) has completed the first letting at its 68,000 speculative industrial/warehouse development in south Cambridge, just over a month after practical completion.
Echion Technologies Limited has taken a 10-year lease of the 2,185 sq ft Unit 9 at a rent of £10 per sq ft.
As a Cambridge University spin-out company, Echion specialises in the leading-edge development and production of superfast charging batteries.
SHP internally funded this development project which has a capital value in excess of £12M.
The other 12 units making up the 68,000 sq ft scheme are being marketed by joint agents, Savills and Carter Jonas, who are seeing good interest from high-level occupiers in the Cambridge market.
SHP’s Pat Mahoney said: “It’s always good to get the first unit away and especially to such a dynamic new company as Echion. Much of the other interest currently is from similar science and technology companies looking for hybrid ‘mid-tech’ accommodation for research, development, manufacturing and distribution. These occupiers require clean and efficient space to house high-end equipment for their skilled workforce and it is this we have aimed to provide on the new estate.”
