Ground breaking has marked the start of a Clague designed construction project to help Dover-based Megger meet the growing worldwide demand for its electrical testing products with a new factory and HQ redevelopment.
Senior representatives of Megger and Canterbury-based Clague Architects, were joined by Cllr Sue Chandler, Chairman of Dover District Council, at the site of the multi-million pound investment by the company.
Megger has been based in Dover since the 1960s and today employs 260 highly skilled staff in the design, development, manufacture and commercialisation of electrical testing equipment at its Channel View Road factory and HQ buildings.
Karl Elliott, Managing Partner at Clague said: “Dover is a vital part of Megger’s global operations. When the redevelopment is completed, the buildings with their strong visual identity and revitalised layout will send a very positive and strong message to its customers, suppliers and potential employees about the company.”
Clague’s team of commercial architects prepared detailed designs and technical drawings for the new building and HQ building redevelopment. The work will include new product development and marketing facilities, a customer training facility with specialist servicing for vehicles used for high-voltage testing, a new staff restaurant, and a heritage centre.
The modern new look for the existing building on Archcliffe Road will include solar shades and installing a green living wall to the existing staff car park.

The new investment will help the company to recruit and retain key talent as it continues to grow, creating a modern, inspirational working environment with office views out across the English Channel.
