Not for profit organisation, Evolve (Wales) Limited has successfully negotiated a lease renewal with M4 Property Consultants on a 5,800 sq ft unit on Springvale Industrial Estate, Cwmbran following a recent contract win to provide private day care services for adults with learning difficulties in Torfaen.
25 service users from across the county attend Evolve’s unit every day to participate in activities designed to maintain and teach new skills and help their personal development to empower them to become more independent. Some of the activities take place in the centre whilst others are out in the local community and involve interaction with other organisations and voluntary groups as well as private companies.
Not only will the new contract secure the Springvale unit, it has also enabled Evolve to recruit three new members of staff and increase the range of activities they provide for their services users.
Evolve’s director Liz Betteridge explained, ”We’re delighted to have been awarded this contract by Torfaen County Borough Council. It guarantees our ability to continue to provide our specialist support services and will also enable us to diversify and introduce new activities that not only benefit our services users but also add revenue streams to the organisation. Our long term goal is to be a self-sustaining enterprise.”
Muddy Glove, a domestic gardening and garden clearance service is an example of Evolve’s desire to be self-sustaining. Staffed by four service users and an instructor, local residents can hire the team to tend to their gardens.
Liz Betteridge continues, “It’s an exciting time for everyone involved with Evolve. Muddy Glove is proving to be popular. We’ll be introducing new sports based activities for our service users in the near future including Zumba classes, and we’ve also won contracts with a couple of companies based here on Springvale and another from further afield to provide fulfilment services for their product lines.”
M4 Property Consultants are retained by First Investments Ltd to manage their ownership of Springvale Industrial Estate and provide services including asset management, rent reviews and lease renewals. Commenting on the Evolve’s lease renewal, Kieron Whitcombe, Management Surveyor for M4 Property Consultants said, “Evolve were keen to remain in their unit at Springvale Industrial Estate, they liked the location and the functionality of the premises for their specific requirements. We’re very pleased to have worked with Liz and her management team to agree mutually acceptable terms. It is a real ‘win-win’ situation with our client securing rental income for the next five years and Evolve have secured the use of the unit to allow them to fulfil their contract.”
