Carter Jonas, the national property consultancy, has enhanced its well-established Planning & Development team in London with the appointment of six development surveyors from GL Hearn, led by Jon Pinkerton.
Pinkerton, together with George Barnes and Guy Ingham, join the firm as Partners. Additionally, Chris Hemmings joins as an Associate Partner, with David Price and Rob Gwyther as Associate and Surveyor respectively. The six join Carter Jonas’ existing team of London development experts and will work to expand the geographical reach of the business and its range of services.
All are based out of the firm’s head office, One Chapel Place. They have assisted clients from across the UK, including over 20 London Boroughs, providing strategic development advice, feasibility studies, planning viability negotiations, acquisition and disposals, and guidance on the structure and procurement of development partnerships. Recent projects include a 1,200-home scheme in Maidenhead for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, the development of Beam Park, Dagenham, for 3,000 homes for the Greater London Authority and Hounslow Council’s Cineworld-anchored mixed-use scheme with 500 new homes developed by Barratt London.

Pinkerton has 30 years’ experience in the sector and will oversee the development arm of Carter Jonas’ London team. Having started his career in local government, he moved into consultancy joining Donaldsons, Knight Frank and most recently GL Hearn.
Barnes and Ingham have more than 35 years of specialist practice between them and advise a range of clients on development feasibility, scheme formulation, marketing and delivery as well as developing strategies for town centres, regeneration and estate renewal projects.
Hemmings joins with more than 20 years’ experience in the sector and is a dual qualified surveyor and planner. He specialises in providing viability advice, particularly for the formulation of major masterplans. Recent projects include Whipps Cross Hospital in Waltham Forest and a number of brownfield sites in Bedford.
Price joins with over 5 years’ experience having advised a range of public bodies on schemes primarily in London and the South East of England. Gwyther began his career at GL Hearn and advises on development viability and acquisition projects.
