Staff at DM Hall, one of Scotland’s largest independent firms of chartered surveyors, have chosen two leading Scottish charities, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) to be the firm’s charity partners for the two years to December 2020.
Around since 1923, SAMH currently operates over 60 services in communities across Scotland providing mental health social care support, addictions and employment services, among other. These services together with SAMH’s national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention, sport and physical activity; inform SAMH’s policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland supports people and their families affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions to take back their lives, regain their confidence and independence. The charity seeks to ensure that life living with a chest or heart condition, or after a stroke, is a life lived to the full. It fights for better health for everyone and works to make sure there is help and support in every community for anyone who needs it.
Fiona Lewis, Corporate Partnerships Manager for SAMH, said: “We are very grateful to DM Hall’s staff for choosing SAMH to be one of their charity partners. Thanks to the staff team for making mental health one of their causes to support over the next two years. We are excited about working together to make a valuable difference to people’s lives at the time when they most need support.
Zoë Strong, Partnerships Manager for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland said “We are aware of the dedication DM Hall as a firm brings to its corporate social responsibilities and are delighted to have been voted a DM Hall charity partner for 2019 and 2020. It is wonderful that staff at DM Hall have recognised the valuable support they can help us to provide for the 1 in 5 people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions. Our aim is to ensure there is no life half lived in Scotland for people with our conditions and the support from organisations like DM Hall makes a big difference.”
Eric Curran, Managing Partner of DM Hall, said: “We aim always to have charity partners, nominated and voted for by colleagues, and then enter into a two-year relationship. We are absolutely delighted that SAMH and Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland are to be our 2019/2020 charity partners.”
“In the two years to December 2018, the efforts of the DM Hall team raised £60,000 for its then charity partners, Alzheimer’s Scotland and Macmillan Cancer Support. In today’s world many of us can relate directly with the important services provided by SAMH and Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland. We look forward to new challenges and team bonding during our fund raising events over the next two years.”
DM Hall, which was established in 1897, has 26 offices throughout Scotland and more than 240 members of staff.
