A Shropshire recycling company is celebrating a hat-trick of prestigious local contract wins which has already seen it handle complex waste management requirements at both the RAF Cosford Airshow, and Shropshire Diamond Jubilee Pageant in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen in recent weeks.
Telford-based Pink Group Waste and Recycling won the RAF Cosford contract from a major national contractor, and performed to such a high level that they were also asked to look after the Queen’s recent visit to the site in celebration of her Jubilee. On top of this, the company has won the contract to service the Shrewsbury Flower Show at its 125th anniversary event this month.
“We’re always thrilled to be asked to support prestigious events” explained Alistair Stewart, Head of Sales and Marketing at Pink Group, “but with the Cosford Airshow, the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, and the Shrewsbury Flower Show being so close to home, and with us being selected over some of the major national and multinational companies out there, we’re even more delighted!”
Pink Group’s ‘Royal Appointment’ followed swiftly on from the firm’s role at the RAF Cosford Air Show last month, which involved a forensic level of cleaning. “We provided appropriate waste facilities and bins across the site for both the Airshow and the Queen’s visit, with regular collections and a team on hand to provide ongoing management” Alistair added. “And because the site is also an active airfield, our team supported the RAF in an in-depth post-event clean-up which saw all materials – or foreign object debris as it’s known in the aviation industry – removed. Even an item as small as a pen top could cause untold damage to an aircraft, so it was a real challenge to return the site to its former pristine state after both events.”
Praising the standard of service the company provided, Amanda Butcher, Air Show Coordinator for RAF Cosford, said: “This was the first time that the Cosford Air Show has worked with Pink Group and we were very pleased with their efficient and professional service.”
“Plans are already well advanced for our management of waste for the Shrewsbury Flower Show, and we’re looking forward to playing our part in making this 125th celebration one of the best yet” Alistair added.
With more than 40 years in the waste industry, the family-owned firm is one of the largest privately owned waste and recycling companies in Britain. Currently recycling over 80% of the waste material it collects, the Pink Group has a target of achieving zero to landfill before the end of 2012 from its £5 million recycling plant in Ketley, Shropshire. Working with a range of high profile organisations, from local authorities to blue chip construction companies, the firm prides itself on providing the best possible waste management services, including skip hire, land regeneration, recycling, handling hazardous waste, and demolition and aggregates. Pink Group is one number, one invoice, and one company for all waste and recycling requirements.
