A public exhibition is to be held on January 8 into proposals for a new Lidl store in Kingsway, Gloucester.
Developer Robert Hitchins Ltd is hoping to bring the supermarket to the vacant 2.7-acre brownfield site on the corner of Naas Lane and Newhaven Road, Quedgeley, next to Avionics House. The store would also have 140 parking spaces.
The exhibition to seek local feedback will be held on January 8 at the Kingsway Community Centre, Thatcham Avenue, Quedgeley from 2.30pm until 7.30pm.
Representatives from Lidl, Robert Hitchins Ltd and consultants DPP Planning will be on hand to answer questions before a planning application is submitted to Gloucester City Council.
The multi-million pound investment by Robert Hitchins and Lidl UK will see the construction of a sustainable store with a net sales area of 1,325sq m, creating up to 40 new jobs.
The supermarket will include features such as an in-store bakery, a customer toilet and dual-packing facilities.
Lidl UK has experienced continued growth as consumers flock to discover its great-value products, more than two thirds of which are British sourced.
The proposed supermarket in Kingsway will add to Lidl’s portfolio of 720 stores in the UK. It will also form part of its plans to open up to 50 new stores a year.

Kingsway has emerged on the site of the former 340-acre RAF Quedgeley. The original masterplan included 3,300 homes, a 40-acre employment site, community and leisure facilities, retail, sports area and primary school.
