Construction of a new landmark building for Lok’nStore, the rapidly growing self-storage company, is underway in Suffolk, main contractor MCS Group has announced.
The development at Futura Park, Ipswich, of a 15,306 sq ft, eye-catching Lok’nStore storage facility, is expected to reach practical completion in summer 2019.
Lok’nStore, which was established in 1995, is expanding across the country and has launched new facilities recently at locations including Hemel Hempstead, Wellingborough and Gillingham.
This is the fifth Lok’nStore project for Warwickshire-based MCS Group, which has worked alongside the company for several years to deliver high quality, purpose-built storage facilities for personal or business customers.
Futura Park has been expanding and units for Audi and Jaguar Land Rover car dealerships have been completed. Further development is on-going, with a number of major retailers now established at the former Cranes site, including John Lewis, Waitrose, DFS and Oak Furniture Village.
Alan Shadbolt, group commercial director at MCS Group, said: “We’ve got a longstanding relationship with Lok’nStore going back many years and more recently we’ve completed developments for them in Hemel Hempstead and Southampton which have been a great success.
“So we are delighted to be able to announce the start on site of another excellent storage facility, this time at Futura Park in Ipswich. It is a 29-week project with a value of £1.8million and we expect to be able to hand the new unit over to the company next summer.”
Lok’nStore chief executive Andrew Jacobs said: “This excellent new location adds to the recent rapid growth in our pipeline of stores. Our objective remains to grow by both acquiring more sites to build new landmark stores for Lok’nStore’s own balance sheet and to increase the number of stores we manage under the Lok’nStore brand for third parties.”
In 1995 Lok’nStore was one of the first self-storage companies in the UK. Now it has have over 27 stores in convenient locations mostly across the South East of England with more than 7,000 customers. The eye-catching buildings, with their distinctive orange Lok’nStore branded livery and prominent Lok’nStore signage, create highly visible landmarks.
MCS Group is currently constructing warehouse and distribution units at sites across the UK and has in the past 12 months won contracts in Kettering, Lutterworth, and Hatfield. The company has built and refurbished more than 300 car dealerships including Audi, BMW, Mclaren and Jaguar Land Rover since its inception in 2003.
