A rapidly expanding construction company in the West Midlands has appointed a new operations director as it looks to future growth.
Martin Adie joins mac-group from Willmott Dixon, where he was director of quality improvement, with the remit to lead construction site and delivery teams, support their development and encourage innovation.
He has an impeccable background in major contracting, with experience of large, technically challenging projects. During his 11-year tenure at Wilmott Dixon, he used an engineering approach to achieve significant quality improvements through technical upskilling and behavioural change, a new management system, quality audits and improving numbers of defect-free handovers.
Martin, who is also a member of the Birmingham Marie Curie Brain Game committee, said: “I’m very excited about the move to mac-group and am looking forward to taking on the challenge and opportunity of not just to providing strong leadership but also to further raise the profile of the group within the industry and give customers confidence.
“It will be great to re-engage with the Midlands build community, paving the way for the next five years and meeting the challenges that HS2 and the Commonwealth Games will bring to the region.”
Paul McKenna, group CEO of the mac-group, said: “As a leading construction company, we want a strong team with robust leadership to give clients confidence that their projects will not only be met, but exceeded. Martin brings that seniority and expertise that will ensure the teams are focused on delivering the best very best for our clients and adding value to our schemes.”
Ireland-headquartered mac-group opened the UK construction division in Solihull just over 12 months ago and is rapidly expanding. It is building a 27,000 sq ft retail development and 18,000 sq ft gym in Sheldon for Chase Midland Estates Ltd and has been awarded the construction and refurbishment contract for Project Jewel for Unilever at Burton on Trent, East Staffordshire. It is also due to announce further projects in the new year.
