A legal team which has successfully recovered more than £55 million for victims of financial mis-selling has expanded into new offices in Christchurch.
Ellis Jones Solicitors launched its banking and financial litigation department in 2012, originally to handle cases involving the mis-selling of interest rate hedge products.
The department, which has grown to 14 including solicitors and paralegals, now acts for a wide range of commercial and individual clients who believe they have been mis-sold a financial product or mistreated by a bank or financial institution.
Originally based at Ellis Jones’ Charminster head office in Bournemouth, the team has now moved to new offices covering 1,110 square feet in Christchurch.
William Fox Bregman, Partner, who founded the department, said: “Our reputation for handling this type of work has reached the stage that we need larger offices to accommodate our expanding team.
“We act for clients across the UK and demand for our services is growing all the time. Recent years have seen us successfully claim back around a £1 million a month from banks. In September, alone, the team has recovered a staggering £2.1million for our clients.
“All sorts of financial scandals are emerging on a regular basis and not just in the banking and finance sector. We have also diversified into associated sectors including high value gambling claims.
“It is very satisfying recovering life-changing amounts of money for clients who have literally been at their wits end after falling victim to mis-selling. The behaviour of some banks and financial institutions has been quite shocking.”
Nigel Smith, Managing Partner, said the firm’s new Christchurch office was able to offer a full service to clients.
He added: “We now have six offices across the South Coast – Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs in Poole, Ringwood, Swanage, Wimborne and now Christchurch – as well as a London office. Demand for our services continues to grow all the time.”
The launch of the Christchurch office comes as Ellis Jones’ banking and financial litigation team is ranked Tier 2 in the latest Legal 500.
The influential legal directory describes Ellis Jones as “the most experienced firm in the area for complex banking litigation”.
William Fox Bregman is also recommended as a ‘leading individual’ and “a highly respected practitioner in claims against banks.”
