A 100-bed Premier Inn hotel is taking shape at the £150 million Bridgwater Gateway business park in Somerset.
The hotel, due to open next summer, will create 32 jobs and is located on one of the prime road frontage plots on the 100-acre mixed-use site, which is just off Junction 24 of the M5.
Phil Wade, Development Manager for Bridgwater Gateway, said: “It is good to see work progressing on schedule on what will be one of the key elements of the scheme.
“Premier Inn is the UK’s largest hotel brand, renowned for providing well-priced quality accommodation in prominent locations, and this hotel will play a key role in meeting the huge demand for rooms in the local area being created by the construction of Hinkley Point C power station, and the proximity of Bristol Airport.
“There are now 1km of new private estate roads on site, and it will not be long before prime new commercial properties will be springing up along the sides of these roads as part of the fast-track delivery being offered at Bridgwater Gateway.”
Bridgwater Gateway is the newest business park development on the M5 corridor. The first phase will feature a range of new office and commercial buildings, together with a new 150-bed, four-star hotel with conference facilities, in addition to the Premier Inn.
Tim Davies, head of the South West office of Colliers International, which is commercial property agent for the scheme, said: “Bridgwater Gateway is an ideal location for Premier Inn due to its well-placed geographical location and excellent motorway connections.
“It is just 12 miles from the site of Hinkley Point C and in an area in which the local economy is expected to grow by 45 per cent by 2030.”
Premier Inn, part of the Whitbread chain, is the UK’s biggest hotel brand and is consistently rated the UK’s Best Value Hotel Chain by YouGov.
It has over 750 hotels with 70,000 rooms across the UK and Ireland, offering king-sized beds, ensuite bathrooms, and TVs with Freeview and Wi-Fi.
