Leading property consultant CBRE has announced that it has secured comedy venue, The Glee Club, for 7/11 Renfrew Street in Glasgow on behalf of the landlord, UK Property Finance Holdings Limited C/O Aberdeen Standard Investments.
The Glee Comedy Club has taken the basement unit, extending to 13,000 sq ft, on a new 15 year lease, at a rental of £100,000 per annum.
An independent chain of live stand-up comedy and music venues, The Glee Club first opened in 1994 in Birmingham’s Chinese Quarter – the first dedicated comedy club to open in the United Kingdom outside London. The chain now has venues in Cardiff, Nottingham and Oxford. Glasgow is the multi-award winning club’s first venture in Scotland. The Renfrew Street venue, which is due to be launched in February 2019, will host comedy shows on Friday and Saturday nights.
Kevin Sims, senior director from CBRE, said: “We are delighted to have advised our client on this deal and that The Glee Club has secured the perfect location to bring comedy right into the heart of Glasgow city centre. Surrounded by vibrant commercial premises, as well as colleges, universities and entertainment spots, we are confident that the club’s newest venue will benefit greatly from the custom of those who work, live and visit the city centre.”
CBRE acted for the landlord, UK Property Finance Holdings, in the transaction whilst The Glee Club was unrepresented.
